Give Yourself a Spa Day, You Deserve It
Do you take a day for yourself? An afternoon? An hour? Maybe you only have a few minutes to escape into your own space, in between caring for others. I've definitely been there, hiding in the bathroom for just a little while, desperate for some alone time.

Whatever you can do, this is your call to give back to yourself today.

STEP 1: Cleanse Thoughtfully

Slow down and take some deep breaths while washing your face. Be present and give yourself some love, massaging your cleanser in with your fingertips. Inhale the fragrance. Move your fingertips in little circles, pressing a little more around the temples and the space between your eyebrows.

STEP 2: Give your face, neck and chest a double exfoliation treatment.

Begin with a chemical exfoliant - an AHA or BHA mask or cream. Like our Coconut Lactic Peel. Using a fan brush or your fingertips (I prefer my fingertips), apply a thin coat over your face, neck and chest. Avoid your eye area, of course. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Use this time to relax- or get something done, whichever you find less stressful. Remove it with a moist washcloth. I like to soak my washcloth in hot water and press it against my skin, eyes closed, enjoying the steam treatment.

Now that your dead skin cells and the "glue" holding them on is softened, it's time for a manual scrub. If your skin is oilier or prone to breakouts, you may love our Seaweed & Mint Exfoliating Scrub. If you have skin drier or more sensitive, I recommend the Cucumber Face Polish. Whichever one you choose, give yourself a good scrubbing, being more gentle around your eyes and anywhere your skin is more sensitive and tender. Remove it with a soft cloth.

STEP 3: Restore your skin's pH

Not everyone uses a toner, and honestly, I don't use one every day, but when I'm giving my skin a spa day, I love to add in this step. Toners remove all the tiny remaining bits deep in your pores and they also restore your skin's pH. Cleansers, scrubs and masks tend to be either a bit on the basic side (cleansers) or acidic (AHAs and BHAs) and toners are designed to bring your skin back to it's happy place. Either spritz your skin with the toner or apply it to a soft cloth and gently wipe it over your skin. There's no need to use a cleanser after toning.

STEP 4: Treat your skin

This is my favorite step, honestly. I combine things like serums and nourishing masks into this category / step. Massaging a serum into your skin feels so luxurious and is an easy and lovely way to give back to your skin. Just as you did with your cleanser, close your eyes, inhale the fragrance and take your time thoughtfully massaging the serum into your skin. Remember to massage it into your neck and chest too.

If you have en energy and time, now is the time to mask. Right over your serum, massage in a nourishing mask. Like our Beauty Sleep Overnight Brightening Mask or the ultra-rich Honey Avocado Rescue Mask.

STEP 5: Moisturize and Protect your skin

If you applied a mask, once you remove that, it's time to moisturize. The masks I just mentioned can be used overnight, so if you're using them that way, you'll skip this step. If you washed off your mask, you'll want to moisturize now. If you're unsure which moisturizer is right for your skin, take our Skin Type Quiz for some product recommendations. Remember to moisturize your neck and chest too. If you'll be going outside after your lovely spa treatment, remember to use a cream with mineral spf.

Remember your eyes and lips! The skin around our eyes and on our lips is different than the skin on the rest of our face, so we treat them differently. Make sure you apply your favorite eye cream or gel, dotting it on gently with the tip of your ring finger. I usually reach for our Youth in Bloom Firming Eye Gel in the morning so I get that instant gratification from the firming effects and then the Geranium & Lupine Eye Cream at night so I wake up with the skin around my eyes nourished and supple. Even at night, I love using the Fresh Fig Lip Tint to give my lips a little extra treat- it's so rich and creamy and tastes delicious.
