A Little More About Us

Angelina Organic Skincare is the brainchild born of my driving desire to create a healing relationship between plants and people. I call it “full circle beauty.” By consciously sourcing the most bio-available organic, wild-crafted, fair-trade ingredients in our luxurious formulas, we promote beauty in the people who use our products, and in the places where the ingredients are grown and harvested.

I believe potency is directly related to where and how a plant is grown and processed, which is why I favor smaller farms that use bio-dynamic and organic methods. A true science nerd at heart, I formulate our skincare line with equal parts efficacy and play—why shouldn’t feeling and looking beautiful be fun, too? Every product we make, looks, smells and feels delicious on the skin, all while doing triple duty behind the scenes to nourish, repair and rejuvenate.

Planting the Seeds

As a budding botanist, I grew up in the spectacular and harsh Sonoran desert of Arizona. Wandering in the desert preserve adjacent to our home, I was fascinated by the unique plants and began learning everything I could about how to use them. Inspiring teachers in high school fueled my passion for science and I continued to study botany, ecology and human biology in college. I also had the rare honor of meeting Anita Roddick (founder of The Body Shop) while working part-time at one of their retail stores and was so inspired by her natural formulas that I signed up for the first salve making class I found. And that was it- I was hooked on making skincare products.

Our First Product: Skin Doctor Salve

Always wanting to be outside, I earned extra money running river rafting and rock climbing expeditions on the weekends. The constant exposure to the harsh elements put my sensitive skin to the test and left my hands and feet painfully dry and cracked. This experience inspired my first plant-based product, the Skin Doctor Salve, which now almost three decades later, is still hailed as the ultimate healing salve by doctors and devoted fans around the world.

How We Grew

Sprouting

Over the years, my knowledge, experience, and passion evolved and took on a new focus. Working hand-in-hand with local estheticians, professional athletes and doctors, I began to focus specifically on creating powerful plant-based formulas that eased the discomfort specific issues - eczema, acne, psoriasis, aging, chronically dry skin, and care between radiation treatments and following soft-tissue injuries and surgeries- whatever challenges friends and professionals asked me to create. I built a little online store and sold at the local farmers markets. My kids helped me label products at the dining room table and ingredients and supplies started filling up our little log cabin.

Growing

Realizing I'd outgrown the home kitchen, I moved into a little house that my husband and I, with the generous help of friends and family, converted into a tiny lab and retail store. I spent several years there, surrounding the cottage with lush herb gardens, and this is when things really got rolling. Several local spas hired me to create entire bespoke product lines for their facial and body treatments, as well as private label product lines. aos was blossoming! Always focused on the more medical aspects of skincare, we became the first skincare product supplier for a large national distributor who sold solely to doctors. We sold directly to dozens of small spas and boutiques around the country. Our team of four was busy!

Blossoming

In 2014, we moved into a larger building right in the bustling heart of downtown Bend. A glass enclosed garden atrium gave customers a view from the spacious retail store right into our lab where they could view the products being made fresh. We opened our own aos spa and I loved creating facial, massage and Ayurvedic inspired body treatments to care for our community. We hosted events and classes helped thousands of people find solutions to their unique skin issues. As our customer community grew, our team swelled to fifteen people and I found myself feeling like a real business owner.

Doing Fewer Things Better

In 2023, after seventeen years of "doing it all" - wholesale, brick and mortar retail, online sales, a spa - we were starting to feel spread thin. And we were still growing steadily. We had a long team meeting and talked about our mission, our goals and the value we can bring to our community. The consensus was that, to grow sustainably, we needed to do "Fewer Things Better" - and formulating effective, natural skincare is what we do best. We made a big decision - to go back to our roots. We'd outgrown our space, once again and found a beautiful new warehouse, full of natural light. We moved our lab and shipping operations and felt we could breathe again. The spa and retail store closed with a big party filled with hugs, laughter and a few tears as we gratefully hugged our friends and customers one last time in our store.

New Growth

 Coming Full Circle. This is how we see the direction of our growth, just like the seasons, we're renewing, regenerating. I began this small business by building an online store and providing healthy skincare to estheticians and local spas and physicians. This is the realm we've returned to. Spending our energies on what we're best at- sourcing the finest botanical ingredients in the world and crafting effective skincare products in micro batches, by hand. This takes time - months from start to finish for each formula. We're grateful to have the time again, unrushed, unhurried, focused.
