Skin Type 2
SKIN TYPE #2
Skin Type 2 is sensitive, a little complicated and often difficult to balance. At once oily and prone to breakouts, it's also often dry- either in patches (like the cheeks) or in stages, swinging from dry to oily. Sensitivity to harsh chemicals and ingredients can make it hard to manage. A gentle approach is the best, eliminating irritating ingredients and introducing calming products that provide nutrients without clogging the pores.
Symptoms of Skin Type 2
- Skin feels oily in some areas and dry in others
- Pimple and breakouts happen occasionally to often, especially in the “T” zone.
- Skin is sensitive and prone to redness and / or flaking

Recommended Skincare Ritual for Skin Type 1
STEP 1: Cleanse
When your skin is vacillating between oily and dry, it can be tough to find a good cleanser that keeps it balanced. We recommend avoiding soap-based cleansers which can be irritating. Look for a good soap-free cleanser with ingredients like oat and apple amino acids that effectively cleanse without over drying or irritating your sensitive skin.
We Recommend:Â Apple Chamomile Cleansing Gel
STEP 2: Exfoliate & Mask
Removing dead skin cells once or twice a week allows your leave-on products to work better. When you remove dead skin, a chemical signal is sent down into the dermis to stimulate new cell formation - your skin literally gets younger! The trick is exfoliating without causing irritation. Gentle scrubs with round particles (like spherical jojoba wax beads) can polish off dead skin cells without catching and damaging live skin. Avoid scrubs made with angular particles like sugar, salt, walnut and apricot.
Replenishing and calming facial masks are recommended once a week or as-needed. Look for masks with calming botanicals like raw honey that will deeply hydrate and feed your skin.
We Recommend:
Cucumber Face Polish
Coconut Lactic Peel (do a patch test first to ensure it isn't too much for your sensitive skin)
Honey Avocado Rescue Mask
STEP 3: Tone & Restore pH
Toners remove any little bits of dirt and makeup after you cleanse and restore your skin's slightly acidic pH after you cleanse (cleansers are slightly basic). You can use a toner for a quick no-rinse cleanse. Avoid toners with alcohol and synthetic fragrances.
We Recommend:Â Lavender Aloe Facial Toner
STEP 4: Treat
Sensitive skin craves a daily dose of nutrients and ingredients to help calm and protect your skin barrier, while also keeping those pores clear and combating breakouts. For those oily areas, you may want a serum with a natural salicylic acid (BHA) to keep your pores open and help reduce the appearance of your pores. Serums and facial oils are packed with powerful ingredients in a base that can effectively deliver those ingredients into the skin. Look for serums that contain calming and hydrating ingredients, as well as plant stem cells to stimulate cellular renewal and collagen and elastin boosters.
We Recommend:
Willow Bark Pore Refining Serum (salicylic / BHA) - as needed for oily areas
Apple Stem Cell Radiance Serum (to calm redness and build up your moisture barrier)
STEP 5: Moisturize & Protect
All skin benefits from some extra moisture and using a daily mineral spf goes a long way toward keeping your skin healthy. At night, opt for a slightly richer moisturizer with calming botanicals.
We Recommend: Apple Stem Cell Daily Radiance Cream (spf 15) (AM) and the Saving Grace Night Cream (PM)
