Product Recommendations for Skin Type #6
STEP 1: Cleanse
Soap-free cleansers are key to keeping your moisture barrier intact. Avoid soap-based and high foaming cleansers that strip too much of your natural oils and can leave your skin vulnerable. We recommend cleansing your face every evening and in the morning if you've used an overnight treatment or mask or if you awaken with your skin feeling oily.
We Recommend:Â Apple Chamomile Cleansing Gel
STEP 2: Exfoliate & Mask
Gentle exfoliation once or twice a week removes dry, dead skin without injuring the live skin underneath. Avoid hard, angular shaped scrubs (like sugar, salt, walnut and apricot) and opt for round beads. When considering an acid based exfoliant, lactic and mandelic acids are much gentler than the more intense AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids).
Masks that give back to your skin should be rich in ceramides, collagen boosting ingredients and calming, nourishing botanicals. Avoid masks with alcohols, synthetic fragrances and colors as these are known skin irritants.
We Recommend:
Cucumber Face Polish (2-3 times a week)
Coconut Lactic Peel (1-2 times a week)
Honey Avocado Rescue Mask (as needed for hydration)
STEP 3: Tone & Restore pH
While not absolutely necessary, you may want to use a facial toner after cleansing. Cleansers are on the basic side of the pH spectrum and our skin is slightly acidic at pH 5.5. Toners can help restore that pH balance. They also remove any bit of impurities left on your skin if your cleanser doesn't get everything off. Many people like to use a toner for a quick rinse-free cleanse, like first thing in the morning if you washed your face before going to bed or after working out in the gym. Avoid alcohol based toners - they'll dry your skin out, break down your moisture barrier and make you vulnerable to redness and irritation.
We Recommend:Â Bulgarian Rose Hydrosol
STEP 4: Treat
Once your skin is cleansed, scrubbed and pH is restored, it's time to start feeding it with nutritious botanicals. Mother Nature provides an abundance of plants that contain calming and restorative chemicals. Facial serums are liquids that are either water or oil based and that can deliver powerful ingredients that are easily absorbed by the skin. Think of serums and facial oils as the vitamins and supplements you take each day. We recommend applying your serum on fresh, clean skin before your daily moisturizer or restorative mask.
We Recommend:
Calming Facial Oil (AM or PM- moisturizing, soothing)
Apple Stem Cell Radiance Serum (AM or PM - lighter, builds up the moisture barrier)
STEP 5: Moisturize
After applying your serum and let it sink in for a few minutes, it's time to massage in your moisturizer. We recommend using one with mineral sunscreen in the morning and and soothing, ceramide rich cream at night.
We Recommend:
Apple Stem Cell Daily Radiance Cream spf 15 (AM)
Saving Grace Night Cream (PM)
