Have you heard? National Tree Day is Sunday, August 6th!
The day aims to raise awareness about the importance of trees in our daily lives and the environment as a whole. Trees are an essential part of human existence, providing us with numerous benefits.
The Impact of Trees on the Environment:
Oxygen Production: Trees are the primary producers of oxygen. Through the process of photosynthesis, they convert carbon dioxide into oxygen, which is vital for the survival of all living creatures.
Carbon Capture & Storage: Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it in their trunks, branches and roots.
Food & Shelter: Forests are home to an incredible variety of plant and animal species. Trees provide shelter and food for numerous animals, contributing to our planet’s biodiversity.
Soil Conservation: The root systems of trees help prevent soil erosion by stabilizing the soil and reducing the impact of water runoff.
Economic Benefits: Trees contribute to various economic sectors, including timber, paper and medicine. Forests provide livelihoods to millions of people worldwide.
Threats Trees are Facing:
Trees are crucial to life on earth, and yet they face numerous threats in today's world. Deforestation, caused by activities such as logging, agriculture and urbanization, has led to the loss of extensive areas of forest lands. Other threats include pollution, disease and the spread of invasive species, which can harm tree populations and disrupt ecosystems.
Celebrating National Tree Day:
National Tree Day is an opportunity for individuals and organizations to come together and take action to protect and promote trees. There are many ways to celebrate.
Plant a Tree: One of the most common ways to celebrate National Tree Day is by planting a tree or participating in a tree planting event. Planting new trees helps replenish forests and green spaces and raises awareness about the importance of reforestation.
Volunteer: Participate with a community group or organization to help raise awareness about the significance of trees and the threats they face. Get involved in local tree care activities in your community.
Conserve a Forest: National Tree Day is a great opportunity to support and promote forest conservation. Conservation projects can include efforts to combat deforestation, protect endangered tree species and restore degraded forest areas.
Forest Bathe: Connect with nature by taking the time to walk through a forest and experience the beauty and serenity of trees firsthand. Forest Bathing is a great way to reduce stress and enhance well-being. When you can’t make it outside, you can still experience the benefits of forest bathing with our Forest Bathing products, which includes the new Forest Bathing Hand & Body Lotion.
National Tree Day is meant to serve as a reminder of the vital role trees play in our lives and the well-being of the planet. By celebrating this day and taking action to protect and promote trees, we can all contribute to a more sustainable relationship with nature and a greener future for generations to come.
How to Incorporate the Benefits of Trees in Your Skincare
Evergreen trees, like pines, cypress and cedars, produce aromatic chemicals called phytoncides that benefit us in several ways. Amazingly, these phytoncides are present in essential oils and we can inhale them and use them topically (on our skin) to receive their benefits.

We add it to our Seaweed & Mint Exfoliating Scrub and Skin Doctor Salve.
